What is the education or how education can be defined in modern perspective is a burning question? While we go through the answer of this question or analyze the answers of this question we still find those old definitions, which are in fashion for a long time. Education is the manifestation of the innate potentials already present in the individual or Education is the best mean of the all-round development of an individual or many more in the same context. It is the time to rethink. Isn’t it? Are these definitions as relevant as it were at the time of its establishment? Are they meaningful? Obviously not. They are quite irrelevant. Now a days, education does just opposite to the meaning of above said definitions. The aim of education which was to attain pleasure is completely replaced with to attain the prosperity. At present, it is the mean of getting a good job at the place of all-round development. So, these old definitions should be changed. At present education must be defined as the process of making fool, in which a greater fool, who is the outcome of this process makes coming generations similar to him. We have another option also. In spite of changing definition of the education we may re-establish the integrity of the motives of education suggested by our grate saints and philosophers, i.e., education for the attainment of pleasure. Then people will study for the sake of knowledge and wisdom. They will study for the sake of their own pleasure not for the sake of getting good job and then only education can be meaningful. If so, happens then the concept of “सा विद्या या विमुक्तये” would be true and then only can people get the real education and contribute for the betterment of the nation in real sense.
